Catch Me

about

The 3rd track off of Formula 5's second studio album "Edging on Catastrophe"

lyrics

I set out, travelin’ south, when the freight car pulled away
Cause back at home, I-was so alone, and I had some dues to pay
But a drought came in, we packed it in, and the horses ran away
From how I’m sitting here, it’s pretty clear – I have to leave today
Despite it all, I braved the fall, just trying to get along
I buckled down, got a job in town, in the hopes to pay it off
But the hill got steeper and the debt got deeper, put me up against the wall,
So I took a chance, the man got a glance, but they’ll never catch me at all

I was halfway there, without a care, when I thought of what I’d done
A man in his prime, without a dime, not far from his own gun
I’d stumbled in, all full of gin, and much to my surprise
Boss’ safe lay open, and what I was hoping, was a blessing in disguise
With the gold in hand, I began to stand when I spotted August Morr
A man of the book, and his glance I took, as he emerged beyond the door,
He said Johnny-boy listen, I can see your fishin’, for some stock that isn't yours
Wont-cha put it back, and I won’t say jack, and you’ll be on out the door

Could it be the pride, or the liquid ride, that fuels a desperate man?
To take a life, make a widowed wife, just for a final stand
I never planned on killin’ but my head was driven by the drink and a lonely mind
A good man lay dead, and ol’ Johnny boy sped towards the nearest freight car line
As the train pulled rolled in, weighed down by sin, I gave my last goodbyes
To some men whose past, could never outlast the veil of honest eyes
And when those silver tracks, of all the times gone past, began to straighten out)
The law man stood there, yet I still declared, oh no you’ll never catch me at all
